Boston Terrier for SalePrior to looking for a Boston Terrier for sale, think over what you will use a dog of this breed for. Since Boston Terriers are very active, they cannot be kept as indoor pets only, but require much exercise and a task to do. The original purpose of the breed was pit fighting, which required great strength, endurance, and aggression to dogs. The breed was originally named the Bull Terrier. It got its present-day name in the 1890s. Nowadays, these dogs are not used for hunting; the natural aggression to dogs is bred out of the purebred descendants of the old-time fighting dogs. A Boston Terrier for sale can participate in many dog sports. This breed is especially good at tracking events, agility, and obedience. Boston Terriers are very intelligent and responsive to training. They easily learn to obey commands and perform various tasks in obedience competitions, such as walking at the owner’s side, coming and staying, retrieving things, and jumping over obstacles. The highest level of obedience competitions (Utility) requires performing difficult tasks: finding and retrieving an object with the owner’s scent on it, directed jumping, heeling at the side without any verbal commands, and others. It takes much time and efforts to train a Boston Terrier for the Utility level. For agility competitions, these dogs don’t need much training. Very active and quick-witted, Boston Terriers enjoy climbing, jumping, running, racing through tunnels, catching balls, and doing other tasks. Almost any purebred Boston Terrier for sale is able to compete in agility. Since this activity, like other dog sports, require physically and temperamentally sound dogs, the owner has to provide the puppy and the adult dog with necessary vet examinations and regular vaccinations. There are no absolutely healthy dog breeds. Though strong, hardy, and active, Boston Terriers are prone to a number of hereditary problems. Some bloodlines tend to develop eye problems, cancer, and hip dysplasia. A shortened muzzle of the Boston Terrier may cause breathing difficulties in hot and humid weather. These dogs should not be over exercised when it’s too hot. A Boston Terrier for sale may need surgery to correct the palate or trachea. ![]() |
